A swaying carriage drawn by wild horses, Seeking comfort for its sorrow in pleasure, Trying to quench its thirst with salt water! Are you mad, gentlemen? Do you not see the road before you?

The flowers are not strangers to the stone field, Nor is hunger a stranger to abundance, Nor is that lady’s figure, Nor her hips, nor her lips, Nor those unknown lusts!

The wild horse is the one that thrashes, Like a ship in a storm, like a man in the sea, Seeing salvation as he dances on the crest of the wave, As if he did not know the truth, That suffering waits beneath the same wave, As if he did not know the truth, That he is caught in the sea, not beneath the wave.

Where? Oh, where is the end of my desires? Pull the reins close, so the horses may see The bright light of the Name above the horizon.
